AI structures the steps, so you can focus on the craft rather than the technicalities.

Knitting needle sizes: conversion chart (US, UK & mm)
Knitting needle sizes are measured three ways, metric (millimetres), US numbers and old UK/Imperial numbers. The chart below converts all three, so you can translate any pattern or needle no matter where it was written.
How to cast on
Casting on is the first step of any knitting project; it creates the starting row of stitches on your needle. The most popular all-purpose method is the long-tail cast on, which gives a neat, slightly stretchy edge.
